Another first time track. This one was much friendlier and, I never thought I'd say something like this, had the best safety video
of any track I've been to. It was actually funny, in a silly way, without being goofy. Not any easy thing to do.
I studied the track diagram, but it isn't exactly to scale. Some parts of the track are much wider than the drawing would indicate,
and some parts are much narrower. The layout is nice though. A combination of fairly long straights and a variety of corners that
allow for some nice passing opportunities.
But, as in Fremont, the surface was a complete surprise. It wasn't as bad as off-line in Fremont, but didn't have nearly the on-line
traction of any other track I've driven on. However, there was no off-line. No matter where you were on the track the traction was the
same. This allows you to take nearly all the corners sprint car style. That's usually not the fastest way around the track, but over
the slickness of this track I'm not sure. As the race wore on I tried not sliding, but was never able to match my sliding time.
The karts are pretty much the same chassis as Burlingame, but with the smaller engine. Though I don't think more horsepower would help
on this track.
After the race my wife commented that this was the first track she was actually tempted to try. Looking around, there was universal smiling
from the people taking thie helmets off. This may not be the best track for the wanna-be racer, but it is the best tracking for having some
yee-haw fun.
