It's been just over two months since my last race, and over a year since I've been on the super track. The rust showed. It took me several
laps to find my flow. The super track combines the two smaller tracks, Monza and Yokohama, into one. The problem is that in the combined
track the Yokohama portion is run backwards. It's amazing how much difference a direction can make.
The engine in the kart was a bit off. It had a much more pronounced piston thump then any other kart I've driven here. At first I thought I
was imagining it, but then I found that there were several corners that usually required a stab at the brakes, that I could take without
braking at all. The way I'm describing this I'm making it sound like the kart was a total dog. It wasn't. It was just a little off peak
performance. By the last third of the session I put some nice laps together, but then got caught up in traffic. (Including lapping one kart
twice in one lap.)
What made the session most fun though was that I was right behind a slightly faster kart for the whole session. It gave me a target.
