For the last month I've been working under my house reinforcing the wooden foundation. It's lots of fun. It involves digging down to
the bottom of the support posts and either reinforcing or replacing the wood. The digging has revealed a pile of stuff, mostly
just bits of junk, but also a few bones. Nothing scary or menacing though, and nothing identifiable.
Then I had to replace a section of the rear deck due to a water heater issue. I pulled up the deck which I thought was six or seven
inches off the ground. However the "ground" turned out to be three feet deep of debris. The previous owners, or their contractors, I don't
know which, dumped all the junk from previous work in this hole. I pulled out the pieces that were still intact, then pulled out the rusty bed
springs, then still had seven contractor trash bags full of decaying pulp that needed to be shoveld out. Mixed in the debris were thousands
of worm salamanders who must now find new homes. I'm sure the lizard gods are none too pleased with me.
Also mixed in the debris were the bones pictured here. After finding them I sifted through the rest but found nothing else. I looked
up animal skeletons on the web and I'm pretty sure they are a racoon's hip and leg bones. I think there's something wrong with me because
I'm disappointed I couldn't find the skull.
